It’s no surprise that we live in an “instant” society. More and more we are introduced to the easy way to get what you want. You can push a button to open a door, put your hand under a sink for running water, then put them in an automatic hand dryer. You don’t even have to push a button to call someone, you can tell your smartphone to do it for you. We could go on and on.
If you are reading this article in hopes of learning more easy ways to get what you want, you may be disappointed. But there are times in life when someone shares with us what we “need” to hear versus what we “want” to hear and we find ourselves grateful that they took the time. If you continue reading, you will find that today, I am someone that took the time.
Here is what you “need” to know, “If you really hope to get what you want in life, the things that really matter, there is only one way to get them. You will need to invest in them, you will need to do your part to make these things happen”.
It doesn’t matter if you want to build your retirement portfolio, a business, a relationship, or a healthy body, you are going to need to make an investment.
We may be able to get some things instantly, but the things that really matter will never be instant.
You may be thanking me already or you may be a little discouraged. Please, know my intention is not to discourage you but encourage you. Life is so much more fulfilling when we take the time for what is really important. And don’t worry, I won’t leave you hanging. Below are some tips on what you can do next.
The first thing you can do is make a list of what you really want in your life. If it helps, you can refer to the following categories: career, health, finances, relationships, self-perception, and Spirituality.
Next choose one category to focus on and make a list of all the things you can do to make them happen. Keep your list handy and start with a few baby steps to move you closer to what you want.
To get what you want, ask yourself daily, “What is one thing I can do today?”
Before long you will see yourself experiencing what you want and you will feel good that you took the time and invested in what really matters.
Watch for next week’s article where I share more tips on how to invest in what matters most.
